Why HelloStory?

Karl and I have a long, storied history together. Our passion for all things old has led to the creation of this site.

Here, we catalog, archive, and preserve these beautifully illustrated public domain works for generations to come.

Stay tuned here on our blog to find a plethora of new and exciting content surrounding our library of antique children's books!

The Tech

HelloStory is built on top of my Ephemeral framework—the core of which will be available as free software on GitHub soon.

This foundational software provides a technical basis for this website and a sturdy platform upon which to grow.

The Content

Karl and his father Guy have provided the content you see here today. When Karl and I originally founded HelloStory, our goal was to take the wealth of content from childrensbooksonline.org and give the site a modern coat of paint.

Once we've completed migrating all the books to our database, our collection will continue to grow and preserve the marvelous works of old!

Where You Come In

If you want to join us in making HelloStory the best and most useful site on the web for public domain and free culture content, consider becoming a member! We'll soon be sharing the ways you can submit text translations and transcriptions of our content, as well as audio/visual content relating to each book!
